Humanin

Humanin is a mitochondrial-derived peptide encoded within the 16S ribosomal RNA gene. It is one of the most significant peptides in longevity research due to its powerful cytoprotective effects. Humanin inhibits apoptosis triggered by various stressors, protects neurons from amyloid-beta toxicity (relevant to Alzheimer's), improves insulin sensitivity, and has anti-inflammatory effects. Its levels decline with age, correlating with age-related disease onset.
