Oxytocin
Oxytocin is a neuropeptide naturally produced in the hypothalamus. Often called the "love hormone" or "bonding hormone," it plays critical roles in social bonding, trust, empathy, and stress reduction. Supplemental oxytocin (typically intranasal) is used to reduce social anxiety, improve emotional connection, lower stress/cortisol, and support mood. It also has anti-inflammatory properties and may support wound healing. Research shows benefits for PTSD, autism spectrum social challenges, and generalized anxiety.
